Alzheimer’s disease is one of the most dreaded disease that rob older people’s memory. Recently, researchers have good understanding about the cause of Alzheimer’s.
Researchers are now studying how to stop it, and I think that’s exciting for both the researchers and people who are affected and risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
When researchers scan the rain they found amyloid plaques. Amyloid is a protein that naturally occurs in the nerve cells. However, it accumulates as plaque in Alzheimer’s just as in plaque build-up that lead to heart disease.
A new drug called anti-amyloid has been under testing. This drug clear the amyloid plaque build-up in the brain. Hopefully, this is a breakthrough in treating Alzheimer’s disease. And, we just hope the researchers didn’t overlooked any potential side effects when taking these drugs. Just as in Statins for lowering cholesterol that causes many side effects.
