Penile Traction Therapy

Traction technique has been used in the medical world to increase bone length and therapy for people with back pain with a therapy known as traction and decompression of the spine. There are even high-tech machines that do this job. Today, the same traction technique is used for penile health purposes. In the past, we’ve covered about the benefits of using a penis pump for men with erectile dysfunction and even those keen at increasing their penile size, which works well for both purposes.

Just like any other physical problems, the male penis also is vulnerable to certain disfigurement, and the most notable is Peyronie’s disease or the curvature of the penis in either direction, but mostly it can either be downward or upward. Penile curvature can also occur on either side. There are cases when the curvature is not painful while others can be painful either during erection, or during penetration, and there are cases when both are painful. Penile curvature is normal if it curves to a slight degree, but when a curvature of 30 degrees and beyond may be considered a deformity, and in this case, it’s a Peyronie’s disease.

Before we go further, here’s a quick overview on what is a Peyronie’s disease. It is important to know this because you who is reading this article right now may have some sort of curvature that can be considered a Peyronie’s disease. Plus a demonstration on how to use a penile traction device to correct the curvature in a non-invasive way, which means a non-surgical procedure.

The best way to determine whether a man has Peyronie’s disease especially if there is a slight curvature is to talk a urologist who knows well about the condition. The penile traction device used in the demo is FastSize. However, FastSize has been out of business since 2010 due to issues with the FDA. The good news, another brand introduced in 1995 called JES extender. You don’t have to stick to JES extender as it is not the only traction device.

Due to the effectiveness of this device using the traction technique, it is not only became useful for men with penile curvature, but also for men who want to increase penile size. Traction device in penis enlargement arena is also known as a penis extender, and there are several brands available aside aside from JES extender. According to Dr. Mark Newell a researcher for the former penile traction device, FastSize, traction technique is effective and there are many studies conducted about its effectiveness either using a traction device solely, or along with an oral medication including this study[1].

In a different study[2] using another penile traction device from Andromedical, the researchers found that employing a penile traction therapy(PTT) appears to be a helpful treatment for acute phase of Peyronie’s disease when it comes lessening of the pain experienced by the patient, decrease in the degree of penile curvature, and an overall improvement of sexual function.

In 2011, another study[3] published a the Journal of Sexual Medicine examine the effectiveness of penile traction therapy along with an oral medication for Peyronie’s disease. And, the researcher’s found a trend towards measurable improvement in curvature correction with significant stretched penile length, and that penile length gain is associated with the duration of use of the penile traction device. Meaning, the longer the usage, the longer the penile length increase.

In 2014, a randomized study[4] found that a combination of penile traction therapy, intralesional verapamil(ILV) and oral antioxidants is beneficial for the treatment of Peyronie’s disease. The participants experienced sexual intercourse satisfaction, overall satisfaction, as well as satisfaction in orgasm during the 12 weeks study duration.

Prior to that study, a review[5] of the current literature on penile traction therapy and Peyronies disease concluded that men are generally satisfied with the results using the traction device, although there are certain minimal adverse effects on some of the participants.

Penile health is one of the embarrassing issues in men, and many men don’t want to talk about it. However, in order to improve the quality of life and sexual experiences, it is vital to talk to your doctor if you have a certain degree of curvature on your penis especially if it’s painful during erections or during sexual intercourse. This is not something you should feel embarrassed, it’s a medical condition that needs attention from a qualified medical health professional, and in this case, a urologist.

If traction device is not enough, and a surgical procedure is not an option, penile exercises like stretching and jelqing can help along with using the traction device as a routine for correcting the curvature of the penis. These manual exercises are also very popular in penile size enhancement community.
